Shelley Vail-Smith, Ed.D.

Shelley Vail-Smith is an Engagement Manager on Mass Insight’s School Improvement Team, where she supports schools in the Philadelphia City School System. Prior to joining Mass Insight, she has worked to improve literacy in Alabama through a variety of roles, including serving as advisor to the Alabama State Legislature and State Board of Education. She is also the host of the Alabama Literacy Network’s podcast. Shelley has worked in education for 30 years including rural, suburban, and urban schools. She has served as assistant superintendent in two districts, principal, assistant principal, adjunct professor, and teacher. Shelley is a graduate of Samford University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
