Career Pathway Speaker Series brings professionals to Boston high school

Executives representing Aras Corporation, MLSC, and Sanofi Genzyme spoke with Burke HS students 

Dec. 8, 2021 –Boston– Mass Insight Education & Research has partnered with the Jeremiah E. Burke High School to create the Career Pathway Speaker Series. This set of events is for Advanced Placement® (AP) STEM and English junior and senior students and will focus on career exploration and development. 

The series kicked off on December 7th, 2021, and featured three panelists who spoke about their careers, backgrounds, and educational experiences. Sanofi Genzyme Clinical Research Director Dr. Raolat Abdulai, Aras Corporation Chief Executive Officer Roque Martin, and Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President and CEO Kenneth Turner shared their journeys and then sat with students in breakout groups for discussion and Q&A.  

There were close to 40 students in attendance. One senior said of the event, “The panelists gave me unique insight into what happens after college and what opportunities are out there.” Another shared, “Attending the Career Pathways Speaker Series has motivated me to find a career I’m interested in pursuing.”  

Teachers and administrators at the Burke were pleased with the outcome of the event and have begun planning for the next installment of the series in May of 2022. “This event directly connected school with career,” said Burke Headmaster Amilcar Silva. “It showed our students what success looks like and what their futures could be.”
