New Initiatives Aim to Transform Urban School Districts through Turnaround of Their Most Struggling Schools

Mass Insight Education & Research Institute announces the formation of the Partnership Zone Initiative - a set of intensive partnerships in three states to turn clusters of chronically under-performing schools into exemplars of district redesign. Mass Insight was recently awarded a two-year, $1.5 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to launch the project, which is further supported by a partial match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Mass Insight is also assisting the National Governor's Association with a multi-year initiative in four states (CO, MA, MD & MS) to develop policies and practices to turnaround their lowest performing schools. For more information on both initiatives, visit our Services page.

New Turnaround Challenge Resource Center!

Dozens of documents resulting from our research & development effort, called Meeting the Turnaround Challenge, are now available. The first two main reports, A New Partnership Paradigm and Partnership Zones, along with a handful of other documents are available in the Resource Center. Additional reports and resources will be added throughout the summer.
