Governor Baker signs off on AP STEM and English budget

Governor Baker held a press conference on Monday at which he announced that he had signed off on the budget for line item 7035-0035 in support of the state’s AP STEM and English program. Dr. Susan Lusi, president and CEO of MIE, had the following to say about the budget approval:

“Despite budgetary constraints, Governor Baker, Lt. Governor Polito, Speaker DeLeo, and Senate President Rosenberg continue to show a strong commitment to raising education standards and closing the achievement gap. Mass Insight Education’s AP STEM and English initiative is one of Massachusetts’ critical and highly successful early-college programs, annually enabling 10,000 students at over 70 high schools to have the chance to engage in college coursework. By funding the state’s successful AP STEM and English program in the FY 2018 budget, our state leaders are creating more college-ready opportunities for students who need them most and advancing STEM education.”
